Torpeedoh
BiographyZach Torpy, born March 12, 1993 in West Des Moines, Iowa, and more commonly known as Torpeedoh is a mashup/sample-based artist akin to the likes of Girl Talk and E-603. His debut EP Play The Game, released in February ‘09, sparked a small following amongst Torpy’s friends and online contacts. His debut album Buckwild, released in July ‘09, expanded the fanbase due to the large number of downloads received across the internet. To date it has been downloaded roughly 22,000 times (estimations made using all available mirrors). Buckwild saw the growth of song structures and more development ideologically, including such fan favorites as the track “Anything Goes”, which featured a sample of The Office Theme Song. The cult success of Buckwild gave Torpy a stage to release his sophomoric LP Party People. Released in January ‘10, the album launched Torpy to new heights of notoriety and critical acclaim. Party People featured more experimentation, venturing away from classic rap + rock formulas, into soundscapes more chopped, rearranged, and layered. Torpy released an EP titled Square Pegs in August ‘10, containing 9 new mash-ups, generally between only two songs. Torpy made these mixes as a sort of boredom killer, a way to pass the time while not playing shows or mixing full songs for his next release. Torpeedoh also appeared at both 515 Alive and 80/35 music festivals. Albums
