Check In with DJ Fergie Ferg

After several successful releases, DJ Fergie Ferg is at it again with his latest album, Masharoni and Cheese. The album drops September 21st, and we got a chance to talk with Ferg about the new project, as well as secure an exclusive preview track for your listening pleasure.

This is the first feature in a new series we call Check In. Enjoy.

What kind of genres can we expect to hear in the new album?
Oh wow, It would be easier to say what you can’t expect, just kidding, but seriously there are a lot of different genres. They don’t appear in this order, and this is not all of them but here goes… Hip-Hop, Pop, Top 40, House, Club, Indie, Disco-house, Alternative, Grunge, Dubstep, Metal, and just about every generation from the past 60 years.

Dubstep? Do tell…
The dubstep is used as an outro to the album to give a slower more chill ending, except it is mashed with some crunk so the party won’t stop until the album is entirely finished.

Any awesome samples you’re excited about including?
I don’t want to give away too many surprises, but here are some. J Giels Band – Centerfold, Crystal Castles – Pap Smear, John Tesh – Roundball Rock and Blind Melon – No Rain.

Does the album consist of A vs. B mashups or multi-sample tracks?
All the tracks have multiple samples, but there are some small parts within the tracks that are A vs. B.

Favorite combination off the new album?
The last two minutes of track #6 is incredible. I want to keep it a surprise. But it takes me back to like second grade.

Masharoni and Cheese

How much time have you put into the new album?
I started at the beginning of June and finished around the beginning of September, but I had a lot of free time this past summer, so the months are not really indicative of the hours put into it.

How far are you into completing the album?
Music is all done, now working on some promo materials and some other things.

Can you tell us a little bit about this exclusive preview track?
The preview track is just a small sample of what is found on the album. This particular track is filled with a considerable amount of Pop and Top 40, and I consider this to be my track for the lady folk because of the samples that are used ie. Taylor Swift, Spice Girls, Khia, Kesha, and Pussycat Dolls.

Any other comments?
This album is being hosted by lacrosse, music, and comedic sensation CON BRO CHILL. It has his stamp of approval. Make sure you check him out here.
