PED Fest Recap

The first annual PED (Philadelphia Electronic and Dance) Festival took place at the Theater of the Living Arts in Philadelphia last Thursday, on the twelfth. As far as we know, it was going to be the biggest mainstream mashup concert the east coast has ever seen. With a lineup of 5 & A Dime, E-603, Milkman (taken off the lineup last minute), and Super Mash Bros, mashup fans were sure to get their fix. And we did.

Every artist dropped some new material at the concert: Some highlights include E-603 throwing some Sleigh Bells and LCD Soundsystem into his set, while 5 & A Dime and Super Mash Bros both brought out some dubstep in theirs. All three sets were awesome, and the crowd didn’t stop dancing the whole night.

Another pleasant surprise was how good all of the opening DJ sets were. DJ Nemms, DJ Tega, DJ Clutch and DJ bMel all started the party up right with trance, dance, electro and house music, which primed the audience perfectly for the mashups to come. The sets were real hot; so hot in fact that there were several reports of sex in the front rows during Clutch’s set. We didn’t see it, but we definitely saw a lot of crazy shit go down. Basically, you should have been there.

Check out some photos from the event below. Video footage will be up soon!
