Top Five Combinations on Girl Talk’s All DayI’d have to say that the two and a half years it took Girl Talk to release his newest album was a completely reasonable time period. All Day is an incredible album, and if you haven’t already downloaded it, then I don’t know what’s wrong with you, because it’s free (everything here is!). Now that it’s out, I’ve decided to wade through the hundreds of samples and pick my top five favorite combinations in the entire album. The only rule is no more than one combination per track (that’s where the runners-up come in). This is probably one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. Expect discrepancies. Here we go: ![]() Honorable Mention: Cali Swag District – “Teach Me How To Dougie” vs. Jane’s Addiction – “Jane Says” On: Oh No from 2:13 – 2:35 Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser. I’d be a little upset if Girl Talk didn’t throw down some “Teach Me How To Dougie” in this album. The fact that he brings it in so early, and with Jane’s Addiction just shows how he’s not afraid bring a little silliness into his music. This one’s a jaw dropper. Runner Up: “War Pigs” vs. “Move Bitch” 5. T’Pau – “Heart and Soul” vs. Skee-Lo – “I Wish” On: Jump On Stage from 1:43-2:42 Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser. 80′s intimate pop and Skee-Lo; how can you not like this? Runner Up: “Creep” vs. “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” 4. General Public – “Tenderness” vs. Jay-Z – “Can I Get A…” On: Let It Out from 0:09-1:24 Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser. Another catchy 80′s pop riff, this time with Jay-Z. Girl Talk’s on to something. Runners Up: “Twerk” vs. “Mr. Blue Sky” and “Loser” vs. “Pretty Girls” 3. Lady Gaga – “Bad Romance” vs. Aphex Twin – “Windowlicker” vs. Soulja Boy – “Pretty Boy Swag” vs. Luke – “I Wanna Rock” vs. Black Eyed Peas – “Boom Boom Pow” On: Get It Get It from 0:00 – 1:32 Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser. This genre-defying combination literally blew my mind. It was only a matter of time before Soulja Boy met Aphex Twin, but I didn’t think the day would come for another thirty years. Runners Up: “Killing in the Name” vs. “Bang” and “Just Can’t Get Enough” vs. “Hotel Room Service” 2. DJ Class – “I’m The Shit” vs. Crystal Waters – “Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)” vs. Dominique Young Unique – “Show My Ass” On: Down For The Count from 2:03-2:34 Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser. After the long, slow lull of “Layla”, the club beat plus “Right Round” gets you excited. And then it builds and Girl Talk drops what?! A wonderful 90′s disco-pop riff turned into a heavy hitting dance beat with DJ Class. Crazy. This is also a great demonstration of the use of a non-acapella rap song. The club dance beat (part of “I’m The Shit”) is what makes this section so good. Runners Up: “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” vs. “Bust a Move” and “Get Ready” vs. “Get It Girl” 1. Rolling Stones – “Paint It Black” vs. Wiz Khalifa – “Black and Yellow” On: Triple Double from 5:07 – 6:25 Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser. Only Girl Talk could do something so creative and rewarding. From the wordplay to the execution, this is unreal. Runners Up: “1901″ vs. “Diva” vs. “How Low” and “Steppin’ Out” vs. “A Milli” So those are my top five favorite combinations (and some runners up) in Girl Talk‘s new album, All Day. I’m sure your opinions differ, considering there are hundreds of samples from every genre and era imaginable. I can’t be right about this. Go ahead, tell me I’m completely wrong. What are your favorites? Let everyone know in the comments.
